Ashlen Franklin Poker Run – Supporting a Lineman Apprentice’s RecoveryMay 24, 2023HometownTV reporter Drew Cobb visits Ackley Park in Elk City to bring you the full details of the Ashlen Franklin Poker Run Fundraiser Event. Join Jessie Osbourne and Corey MacIntyre as they discuss the event organized by Corey and other gracious supporters. Ashlen Franklin, who was electrocuted and critically burned while working as a lineman apprentice, requires extensive hospital care. This poker run has been organized to dedicate all proceeds towards her recovery.
On May 27, 2023, be ready for the poker run starting at Ackley Park. The first hike out begins at 12 PM, and the last bike is expected to arrive by 4 PM. The poker run will take you to various stops, including Ackley Park in Elk City, Friends in Canute, Lucky Star Casino in Hammon, and back to Ackley Park. Riders are charged $25, while passengers can join for $10. There will be food plates available for $5, and kids eat for free.

WOAC is a non-profit organization that hosts a support group for family members, caregivers, and friends of individuals struggling with Alzheimer’s. Their meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM at First Assembly of God in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Johnson – O’Malley Programs for Native peoples in Western OklahomaMay 2, 2023Are you a Native American in Western Oklahoma looking for ways to help your child attend summer camp or pay for extracurricular activities? Look no further than the Johnson-O’Malley Program.
Drew Cobb from HometownTV sat down with Ashley Thompson, a local advocate and organizer of Johnson-O’Malley Programs, to discuss the upcoming meeting and the benefits available to Native Americans in Western Oklahoma.
The Johnson-O’Malley program is designed to help Native American children from any tribe get funding for things like summer camp, cheer, band, and school activity fees. It is a great way for children to get involved in activities that they might not otherwise have access to.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 8 at 1 pm at Kickoff Nutrition in Elk City, Oklahoma. We hope to see many people looking to join the parent committee at this meeting in order to get the program going. The more support we have, the more children we can help.
